The NSW Government has announced restrictions on the use of mobile phones in NSW high schools beginning in Term 4, 2023. The new system is being implemented to increase focus in classrooms, remove distractions and to also promote positive social interaction, while reducing the potential for online bullying.
This will mean that mobile devices (phones and ear devices) cannot be used in class or during Breaks 1 and 2. Phones will not be able to be used for payment at the canteen and therefore students will need to organise a debit or credit card for any electronic payment. Cash is still an option.
Students will still be able to carry their phones while travelling to and from school.
The SJPHS executive are currently working on the new mobile phone policy and will provide this to all families once it is complete.
We appreciate your support and understanding as this policy is implemented in Term 4.
