Subject selection

Supporting students pursue their passions and interests

At St Johns Park High School, students are given the opportunity to study elective subjects in addition to mandatory subjects in Years 7 to 12. These choices are explained below and link to further information about subject requirements.

Year 8

During Year 7, students will be asked to select one elective subject to study in Year 8 in additional to mandatory Stage 4 subjects.

The attached booklet has information about subjects offered - Year 8 Subject Selection Handbook.

Year 9

During Year 8, students will be asked to select two elective subjects that will be studied in Year 9 and 10 in addition to mandatory Stage 5 subjects.

The attached booklet has information about subjects offered - Year 9 Subject Selection Handbook.

Year 11 and 12

During Year 10 students will be asked to select their subjects for Stage 6. Students must study 12 units and meet a number of requirements in order to receive their HSC. These are outlined in our Subject Selection book.

To achieve the best HSC result, students should seek the advice of their teacher and the Head Teacher Careers and Senior Pathways. Students should choose courses based on what they are good at, interested in and what might help them in the future.

The attached booklet has information about subjects offered - Senior Subject Selection Handbook.

View the attached UAC booklet for more information about continuing further tertiary studies - Steps to Uni.
