Vocational Education and Training

Helping students prepare for further education, training, employment and lifelong learning

All VET courses are delivered by registered training organisations (RTOs) that meet national standards and have the relevant qualification and units of competency on their scope of registration.

For school students in Years 9–12 VET is ‘dual accredited’. Students receive recognition towards their school qualification (Record of School Achievement or HSC), as well as a nationally recognised VET qualification. More information on the Statement of Attainment can be found at this link.

Assessment of students

Students in these courses work to develop the competencies, skills and knowledge described by each unit of competency assesed.  To be assessed as competent a student must demonstrate to a qualified assessor they can effectively carry out tasks to industry standard.  Students will be progressively assessed as ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ in individual units of competency it is signed off by the assessor.

Some VET courses include an HSC examination which provides the opportunity for students to have this HSC examination mark contribute towards the calculation of their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
