Learning and support
Our teachers use a variety of strategies to assess student learning and observe students' work in class closely throughout the year.
Assessments
We provide detailed information to students about what we expect from them throughout the year and how their work will be assessed. Students have a number of formal assessments throughout their schooling.
National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
A nationwide annual assessment for students in Years 7 and 9, ensuring students are progressing in literacy and numeracy. The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) holds these tests in March each year, and cover reding, writing, language conventions (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), and numeracy tests.
Validation of Assessment for Learning and Individual Development (VALID)
Online diagnostic science assessments for students in Years 8 and/or 10. These assessments can be used to improve student outcomes and program evaluation.
Record of School Achievement (RoSA)
A cumulative record of a student's academic achievements up until the date they leave school. Awarded to eligible students who leave school before completing their Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Higher School Certificate (HSC)
An internationally recognised qualification and the highest level of attainment that students can achieve in NSW. Awarded to students who successfully complete Years 11 and 12.
Policies and reports
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we have done and how we are improving each year.
Careers and student pathways
The careers program at St Johns Park High School is an integral part of our school's education program. Our school's dedicated Careers Team assist students and families to make considered choices about study patterns and career pathways.
