Creative leadership in learning

Fostering creativity, problem solving and innovative thinking

St Johns Park High School is proud of our partnership with the Sydney Opera House Creative Leadership in Learning.

2020 Program

This program is an interdisciplinary High Performance Class project between English and History for our 8R studetns. The topics covered were the Hero's Journey and Black Death with the driving question:

"How might we share our hero’s journey in a creative and meaningful way?"

Students participated in collaborative group work and used state of the art software to create a documentary. It gave our students the chance to act, direct, record and use green screens in the incredibily engaging and creative process. Through this experience, our students learnt to help each other through tough times to accomplish larger collective goals.

2019 Program

In partnership with the Sydney Opera House, our 8R students have world premiered their drama piece 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants'. Our students showcased how creativity can amplify the connection between education and art. This moving piece was shared with the public over three shows at the Sydney Opera House.

2018 Program

Over the course of the year, our students and teachers have worked with teaching artists and creative resources of the Sydney Opera House, to encourage creativity as a teaching technique in the classroom. A cross-curricular project was developed with our English and Geography teachers to address the issue of water sustainability.

The Sydney Opera House welcomed our students, families and the community to our exhibition in the Studio Theatre on Thursday 20 September.
