Facilities and resources
At St Johns Park High School, we know that the learning environment has a powerful influence on student learning. Over the past decade, our school has worked tirelessly to update our facilities so that our students learn in a safe, vibrant, and innovative environment.
Our school facilities
We offer a range of learning environments. They help students stay engaged, build confidence and enjoy every part of their school day. Our facilities include:
- Agricultural farm
St Johns Park High School provides students with hands-on experience in maintaining and running a fully operational agricultural farm. Students can grow and harvest crops, maintain the school orchard, learn about agricultural tools and machinery, and care for the many farm animals on site. - Commercial kitchens
Our school has two commercial kitchens for students in Years 7 to 12 who study Food Technology and Hospitality. Students develop their culinary skills using commercial stoves and catering equipment at an industry standard. - School library
Our school library provides students and staff with a variety of digital and print resources to support learning. Students are welcome to use the computers, printers, and multimedia resources before school, during break time, and at our after-school Study Hub. - School gymnasium
Opened in 2018, our school gym is an excellent facility to support student fitness, flexibility, and strength training. While it is used extensively as part of the PDHPE curriculum, students are welcome to join our morning fitness program. - Science laboratories
Our school has six dedicated science laboratories, each containing eight equipped stations for student collaboration and experiments. The department has a range of digital technologies to support student learning. - Photography darkroom
The photography darkroom provides students will a well-equipped space to develop prints and photographic film for Visual Arts. - Metals and engineering workshop
Our metals and engineering workshop provides students with an exceptional environment to learn and use a variety of industry-standard machinery and equipment. In the workshop, students complete a number of hands-on projects working with metal and other materials. - Woodwork workshop
Our school has four dedicated woodwork rooms for students to gain practical hands-on experience working with wood. Each room is equipped with a plethora of tools and machinery to facilitate both junior and senior Industrial Technology students.
Study Hub
St Johns Park High School offers an after-school Study Hub program for our students. The Study Hub operated in the school library to provide a safe, interruption-free zone and an optimal learning environment. Students who attend Study Hub are able to access the school library resources, computers, and printers. They are also welcome to bring classwork, homework, research, and assignments as they are able to receive support from two teachers.
Study Hub is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. All students will be provided with light refreshments.
Resources and technology
Our school uses modern technology and digital learning tools. Our resources help students learn, create, and stay connected. As a NSW public school, we have access to shared programs and tools available to all schools in the state.
- Clickview
An educational video platform where students can access videos easily for research, homework, and assignments. Teachers can follow up through quality discussions, higher-order thinking, and problem-solving in class. - Canva
An online platform to create amazing designs, documents, videos, presentations, and more for all studying needs. All students have access to Canva for Education, which includes a free template library and allows for collaborative learning. - LiteracyPlanet
A digital technology proven to develop literacy skills in students. The program covers key literacy skills, including pre-reading, phonics, spelling, comprehension, grammar, punctuation, and writing. - Mathletics
A captivating online learning space providing students with the tools they need to be successful learners. Powerful courses are aligned to the Australian Curriculum Mathematics outcomes across primary and secondary years, matched with dynamic tools and reporting for teachers.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
We understand the increasing availability of personal devices has accelerated the demand for new modes of learning. Students are able to bring their own computing device to school. This will allow richer learning experiences across all subjects. It will also enable teaching staff to use technology to immerse students in real world examples on a daily basis.
Students will be required to sign a student agreement relating to the responsible use of devices. Once the student agreement has been signed, students will be able to use their device in class rooms and connect to the Department of Education’s filtered wireless network.
